The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) is proud to announce the release of the first edition of the FEFCO cybersecurity handbook and associated tools. This initiative represents a major step forward in enhancing the cybersecurity resilience of the corrugated industry while preparing for the upcoming European regulations.
Developed through close collaboration between corrugated cardboard producers, and key suppliers, the handbook highlights FEFCO proactive approach to tackling the rising threat of cyberattacks. The objective is to implement sustainable protection measures, foster innovation, and build trust between suppliers, producers and customers within the corrugated cardboard industry.
To ensure compliance with industry best practices building on regulatory standards, the handbook and tools have been validated by EY, further strengthening their credibility and effectiveness.
FEFCO cybersecurity handbook – helping to create awareness and focus on the cyber risks Practical “tools:
“Our handbook is designed to create awareness on the rising threat of cyber risk to our manufacturing environment, and our toolset will help us with a proactive approach of safeguarding our environment, in a structured way, still allowing space for innovation,” said Hans Christian Hansen, DS Smith an International Paper Company, the cybersecurity committee Chairman at FEFCO. “We strongly encourage companies to use and share these resources internally and with industry peers to promote best practices across the sector.”
The FEFCO Cybersecurity Handbook is unique in the sector. It will be widely shared with sister organisations and their members worldwide to help the corrugated box industry enhance its cybersecurity posture and meet the growing requirements of customers and partners.
As part of its ongoing commitment to cybersecurity, FEFCO will address this topic at the upcoming Technical Seminar on 8 - 10 October 2025 in Rome and host a workshop in early 2026, providing members with deeper insights and practical guidance on implementing robust cybersecurity measures.
