OE-A Business Climate Survey 2025: Cautious growth and strategic investments in printed electronics

“While flexible and printed electronics companies are approaching 2025 with caution, there is evident confidence in long-term growth, particularly in key end-user industries such as consumer electronics, automotive and healthcare,” said Dr. Alain Schumacher, OE-A Chairman and CTO of IEE in Luxembourg, commenting on the results of the OE-A Business Climate Survey at the LOPEC Press conference on 26 February in Munich. The outlook for the flexible, organic and printed electronics industry has weakened compared to previous surveys.

OE-A elects new international Board of Directors

The members of the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association) appointed Dr. Alain Schumacher, IEE, as the new Chair of the Board of Directors at the end of January. Dr. Luke Pan, Brilliant Optoelectronic Technology is the new Vice Chair for Asia. Dr. Carsten L. Herzhoff, Lohmann, and Dr. Chloé Bois, ICI are elected as Vice Chair Europe and North America respectively.

“While the printed electronics industry faces near-term challenges due to global economic uncertainties and a cooling automotive sector, we remain optimistic about the future. The reduced growth forecast for 2024 reflects a cautious wait-and-see attitude, but with strong signals for a rebound in 2025,“ said Dr. Klaus Hecker, OE-A Managing Director, commenting on the results of the latest business climate survey. The biannual survey is conducted by the Organic and Printed Electronics Association (OE-A), a working group within VDMA.
