Future plan for the Wiesloch-Walldorf site to strengthen competitiveness
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), together with the Works Council and IG Metall, has adopted a plan for the future to strengthen the competitiveness of the Wiesloch-Walldorf site. This plan will reduce personnel costs by more than € 100 million over the next three financial years through various measures and thus not only increase cost efficiency, but also make investments possible. The agreement applies with immediate effect until December 31, 2028 and also includes a site guarantee for 3,500 employees as well as investments in the site.
EMVA lifts EMVA 1288 Standard to ISO Level
Based on the positive and ongoing evolution towards more and more matured applications of vision technologies, in specific cameras and image sensors, the EMVA Board of Directors, representing the association’s members, has decided to lift the EMVA 1288 Standard up to an international standardization level. Consequently in 2023 the EMVA proposed the EMVA 1288 Standard to become an ISO Standard. In October 2024 the item proposal got accepted by the ISO Technical Committee 42 ‘Photography’ and the specific working group WG 28 has been founded and initiated its work. International experts are invited to bring in their expertise by joining the ISO-TC42-WG28.

With the installation of two Shine LED Lamp Kits by Miraclon, Spanish prepress provider Flexocolor has switched to 100% LED plate exposure. The latest investment reinforces the company’s ambition to stay at the forefront with the latest technology: Flexocolor installed Spain’s first Flexcel NX Wide System in 2012 and was the first trade shop in the country to offer its customers increased productivity and reduced downtime with PureFlexo™ Printing from Miraclon in 2021.

Heidelberg and Canon underscore close cooperation in sheetfed inkjet printing
Following the announcement of a global cooperation agreement in sheetfed inkjet printing between Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) and Canon at drupa 2024, members of both companies’ top management met for the official contract signing in the new Home of Print at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site of Heidelberg. This event is confirmation of the collaboration between the two companies and their joint ambition. Heidelberg will sell the new Jetfire 50 B3 inkjet printing system with Prinect connection worldwide and incorporate it into an ecosystem for a hybrid production environment that also includes offset printing solutions. A B2 version – the Jetfire 75 – will also be added to the portfolio in the future.

Mondi starts up new extrusion line at Štĕtí
Mondi has announced the start-up of its new extrusion line at Mondi Coating Šteti (Czech Republic), marking another milestone in the Group’s commitment to support customers in their transition to sustainable solutions. Schöttner Druck utilizes the strengths of digital printing with the 3,000th Versafire from Heidelberg
Schöttner Offsetdruck GmbH (Schöttner Druck), based in Oberhaching, Bavaria, is a "repeat offender" and has invested in a Versafire digital printing system from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) for the third time. This is also the 3000th Versafire digital printing system delivered by Heidelberg. In addition to the traditional commercial printing business, the family-owned company, which is over 50 years old, focuses on dialog marketing for customers in the pharmaceutical industry.
