The Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers' Association UCIMA has officially presented its new logo characterised by a letter U with a softer and more minimalist typeface. The logo was revealed during a gala event entitled “L'Anima del Packaging” (“The soul of packaging”) held at the Ducal Palace in Modena to celebrate the association's 40th anniversary.
Starting out from the stylised box image that characterised the old logo, the design studio reinterpreted its lines and structure to create a new symbol, that of a stylised amphora. This ancient vessel represents the oldest form of packaging and harks back to the Mediterranean region's longstanding tradition as the cradle of civilisation. Used in antiquity to store and transport food, spices and wine, the amphora now serves as a symbol of the protective and unifying qualities of packaging. The design conveys the concepts of protection, hospitality and union - values that every association like Ucima strives to embody in its daily activities.
Three dynamic lines have been added to the letter U, symbolising the rapid movement of packaging machines as they wrap and seal a product. These lines convey the dynamism and speed of Italian packaging machinery, while also evoking a sense of continuous evolution.
“Our new logo marks the beginning of a new era,” said Ucima's Chairman Riccardo Cavanna. “For Ucima, this era will be defined by our continued commitment to guiding our companies along the paths of technological evolution and international competitiveness while safeguarding the excellence and leadership we have built over time.”

It reflects the same multiplicity of meanings and intentions present in Ucima's long history, which we proudly celebrate on our 40th anniversary.”
